Penalties for Marijuana in Texas
Posted on Jun 15, 2020 8:30am PDT
By now, you’ve heard all about
marijuana legalization and decriminalization. As of this writing, for example, 14
states and territories have legalized marijuana, including but not limited
to Alaska, Colorado, California, Nevada, Maine, Illinois, Vermont, Washington,
Oregon, and Massachusetts. On top of that, many other states have softened
their marijuana possession laws to a significant degree.
So, what about Texas? Has it legalized marijuana or at least made its punishments
a lot less harsh for adults who
possess the drug for personal use? Unfortunately for marijuana supporters and
users, Texas is NOT one of the states that have decriminalized or legalized
pot. It’s still highly illegal in the Lone Star State, so Texans
have to be aware of the state’s marijuana laws and the consequences
of being caught.
